The Commonwealth Ombudsman takes complaints about Commonwealth Government departments and authorities eg.

- Federal Police.
It also acts as the Defence Force Ombudsman where Australian Defence Force members or former members, their spouses and dependents can complain about administrative action taken by the Defence Force and other Commonwealth agencies.

How to complain
You can make a complaint in person, in writing and by phone. Go to the Ombudsman's site for more info
To complain about a government business, department, agency or local government in your State or Territory:
Your State/Territory Ombudsman can independently and impartially investigate, review and resolve complaints concerning state / territory / local government departments and agencies, statutory authorities, public servants, local councillors and council staff and police. Any person, organisation or association or MP on behalf of a constituent can make a complaint. There is no charge to you.
