GST

The ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) is Australia's prices regulator (or "watchdog"). The ACCC has been watching over price changes coming out of the GST.

The ACCC is responsible for the Trade Practices Act 1974 and the Prices Surveillance Act 1983.

To complain about pricing matters, you can contact the ACCC's Infocentre on 1300 302 502 (toll free; Australia-wide) or by email.

Some States also have specialist State-based price "watchdogs" to deal with the industries hat are being privatised or corporatised.
