(1) Some States also have specialist building regulators and tribunals with dispute resolution processes that you can use if the surveyor is a building or quantity surveyor.
(2) Most states have a Surveyors Registration Board that also deals with issues against surveyors of all types.

How to complain
The Board can deal with matters of a survey related nature and the conduct of the registered person. Complaints must be made in writing.

(2) Queensland Building Services Authority
The Authority is the regulator for the Queensland construction industry. It has a dispute management area and a statutory insurance scheme covering homeowners (up to $10,000) in cases of work that is not completed, is defective or subsides.

(3) The Commercial and Consumer Tribunal
The Tribunal can adjudicate on, or give orders to resolve, domestic building disputes. It can also review decisions of the Queensland Building Services Authority (see above) . Any consumer, contractor or subcontractor involved in a domestic building dispute, or any person who has a complaint in contract, negligence, nuisance or trespass related to the performance of domestic building work can make an application to the Tribunal.

How to complain
You must file an Application Form, in person or by mail. No fax or electronic applications are accepted. Application forms are available from the Tribunal's Web site(go to Building List and look under Forms). A filing fee of $212 must be sent with the application.
